Recommendation for Refresh Bible Study
Refresh has been a welcome change to the women in our church Bible studies. It has broad appeal to the young mom, the single woman, the middle-aged wife, the spiritually mature, or the new believer. It is very difficult to do the lessons and participate without an honest look at one’s life. The stories in each chapter are relatable to all women. The questions each week go from a point of acknowledgement to repentance to freedom. The scriptures used are practical with an opportunity to examine how to apply them to one’s own personal situation or struggle. Our women have loved this study. It’s very relevant, personal and creative. The magazine format was quite appealing as well.

Refresh has been just that, Refresh-ing. To hear other women’s stories and how they worked through these times of pain and growth has been amazing, and to know that I am not alone in my struggles. I have enjoyed the individual stories very much because we can all find something of ourselves in them. Each story pulls you in and gets a point across without spending hours reading. Relating to scripture and having to read verses or look them up was an added bonus and so helpful in my walk and a reinforcement in my identity in Christ. It has been good for light and deep conversation; I have really enjoyed doing this study.

Following in the steps of the recent Biblezine publications, this women’s Bible study is very easy and fun to read. I guess one could call it a “Studyzine”? The true story of a woman at the beginning of each chapter all serve to show the theme of the chapter, whether trying to seek acceptance or dealing with an unforgiving heart. The chapters have activities, discussion starters and some great additional resources. This would make a good devotional for quiet time.
